The Novasans Blog is one of the 12 Finalists in Thailand Medical Tourism Blog Contest
The Medical Blog Contest is organized by the Tourism Authority in Thailand, with the aim of promoting medical tourism in Thailand. During one week in November, 12 qualified bloggers will travel to Thailand to experience some key medical and health service providers (such as hospitals, spas and clinics) from five randomly selected destinations (Pattaya, Koh Samui, Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket) on site. Miss Svederberg, together with her fellow contestants, will share her daily experiences during the trip through posting blog posts, videos, photos and travel stories in order to inspire others to learn more about travel and medical tourism. The TAT will also arrange additional sightseeing tours for finalists so they can experience the attractions of Thailand as a medical tourism hub.
The competition runs from November 20 2010, to January 31, 2011. The participant whose blog receives the highest number of unique visitors will win the amazing prize of USD 10,000 in cash, and Hotel Vouchers valued at USD 3,000 (at Sri Panwa, Phuket and Westin Grande, Bangkok). The participant with the best blog content will win an impressive USD 3,000 and an additional UDS 2,000 in Hotel Vouchers (at Ratilanna Riverside Spa Resort, Chiang Mai and Absolute Chandara Resort and Spa, Phuket).
The blog contest is part of The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) recently launched marketing campaign promoting global healthcare in Thailand. The campaign runs until April 2011 with the goal of enhancing Thailand’s reputation as the “Global Centre of Excellence For Medical Tourism”.
Novasans, which is the most comprehensive online guide for global healthcare and medical tourism, can be followed through the constantly updated Novasans blog, and the active Novasans Facebook fan page.

SimpleCare “Booming medical tourism industries in India and Pakistan could fuel a surge in antibiotic resistance”
A dangerous new mutation that makes some bacteria resistant to almost all antibiotics has become increasingly common in India and Pakistan and is being found in patients in Britain and the United States who got medical care in those countries, according to new statistics.
Experts in antibiotic resistance called the gene mutation, named NDM-1, “worrying” and “ominous,” and they said they feared it would spread globally. A study tracking the spread of the mutation from India and Pakistan to Britain was published online on Tuesday in the journal
Medical tourism” to India for many surgeries — cosmetic, dental and even organ transplants — is becoming more common as hospitals offer care at a fraction of Western prices. Tourists and people visiting family are also sometimes hospitalized. The Lancet researchers found dozens of samples of bacteria with the NDM-1 resistance gene in two Indian cities they surveyed, which they said “suggests a serious problem.
R.B. Prats states that unfortunately we have known of possible complications for some time and have consistently warned American, British and Canadian medical travelers that their decision should not be made solely on price. American medical tourism operators and brokers emphasize price and the fact that surgeons have either trained in the U.S. or are board certified? although this may be true in some cases it does not negate the fact that traveling to a third world country posses not only personal safety issues but health risk as well.
We are consistently showing growth in patients choosing our Health Care services through our international division “SimpleCare World Health” precisely because of the risk factors found in these countries. As one of Spain’s leading health-care provider we are able to provide the exact services offered in India at comparative fees without the health concerns, longer flight times and in a first world country.
SIMPLE CARE offers world-class private surgical and recuperative care to international medical travelers seeking high quality affordable treatment in a first world country-Spain. Non-acute operations and medical procedures (such as orthopedic surgery, hip and knee replacements, cardiac surgery including coronary artery bypass and heart valve replacement, bariatric surgery) are available for significantly less than what they would cost in other first world countries, especially the United States.
Tourists coming to Spain to receive medical treatment avail themselves of a top end health care system and substantial cost savings from a private leading health care provider, SimpleCare. In addition, many clinics and hospitals are located in large tourist destinations with surrounding natural, cultural and tourist attractions.
The cost of living, even in overpriced tourist destinations, is substantially lower than in many other European countries and North American states. The private hospitals and medical specialists Simple Care contracts are of the highest standard; all specialists speak English and have received extensive Specialty training, in Spain as well as North America or the United Kingdom, Simple Care assists patients on every step of the journey: arranging flights and accommodation, meeting patients at the airport in Spain, booking specialist appointments and the surgery as well as organizing quality after-care while the patient is in Spain.
No detail is left to chance. Confirmation of Simple Care’s Uncompromising focus on quality is the proactive partnerships with Primary Care Physicians from the patient’s own country to determine the most appropriate plan of action for a elective medical procedure.
