Burjeel hospital bags two health tourism awards

Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery in Dubai has won two global awards at the ninth edition of World Health Tourism Congress held in Dubai recently.

The hospital bagged the ‘Specialty Hospital of the Year’ award, while its CEO Dr Shajir Gaffar was conferred with the ‘Hospital CEO of the Year’ award at the three-day event, which took place at Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre in Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).

Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery is the leading centre of orthopedic and joint care in the Middle East. The World Health Tourism Congress, the longest-running health and medical tourism event in the world, hosts decision makers of health authorities and key players in the health tourism industry.

The ninth edition of the congress — its first in the Middle East — was held under the patronage of Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) and Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

Dr. Shajir said, “We are excited to receive the global awards. This is an acknowledgement of our march towards excellence… In line with the vision of our managing director Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery is benchmarked to be the leading centre for orthopedic and joint surgical treatment in the region. The group operates 11 hospitals under the brand VPS Healthcare.”
